During our recent meeting in Kampala we focused on:

 

WP1: Project Management and Coordination
The session began with an update on the overall project management and coordination, highlighting the deliverables, milestones, and next activities.

WP2: Curriculum and Knowledge Base Development
Key discussions took place around the development of the curriculum and the knowledge base for the new master’s program. This included:

  • Analyzing study programs from universities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Cameroon, with a focus on bachelor’s degrees related to the European Union’s standards.
  • A detailed survey and evaluation of courses related to the road transport system at universities in DRC, Cameroon, and the EU.
  • Development of teaching methodologies for the 12 new master’s courses and designing requirements for the master’s thesis in line with the new MSc program.
  • Building a knowledge base on stakeholders in the transportation system and compiling relevant data sources used in transport systems and processes.

WP4: Summer Schools and Road Transport Research Laboratories
Plans for the Summer schools were discussed, with an emphasis on integrating research into road transport systems.

WP5: Deployment of the New Curriculum
Discussions on the deployment of the new curriculum centered around the implementation plans, accreditation processes, equipment purchases, and expectations for the program’s rollout.

 

WP3: Theoretical and Practical Teaching Materials Development
Workshops and small group activities were conducted to develop theoretical and practical teaching materials tailored to the transport systems in Cameroon and DRC. Topics covered included:

  • Fundamentals of transport systems and processes
  • Transport research and analysis
  • Sustainable transport planning
  • Road infrastructure safety management
  • Road construction and maintenance
